Frequently asked questions
How is Union different from Firebase / Mixpanel?
You don’t build reports. The panel is a ready set of answers: what’s happening now, what sessions looked like, whether a feature works, whether a release helped, what leads to revenue. Every metric has an explicit definition and comparison basis.
What about privacy?
Two modes: Strict Anonymous (no identifier across sessions, aggregates only) and Product Analytics (pseudonymous install). IPs are truncated before storage, and the mode is enforced at ingest — not in the panel.
How does Live work?
The SDK sends a batch, ingest stores the event and publishes it to the project’s Durable Object; the panel holds a WebSocket. Latency is usually under 2 seconds.
Why “correlation” and not “impact”?
A before/after release comparison includes every version active in the window, seasonality and marketing. We show the difference, but never call it the cause.
Is there crash reporting or video replay?
No — that’s outside the MVP. We link to Sentry/Crashlytics next to each version instead of duplicating their work.
